Citing My Work

In February 2018, I had my name legally changed to "Richard Kimberly Heck". I prefer that my full name, as just given, be used in referring to me in written work. Thus, where one might previously have written "Richard Heck" or "Richard G. Heck, Jr", one should now write "Richard Kimberly Heck".

That said, I now 'go by' the name "Riki", which is a nickname based upon my full name: RIchard KImberly. That is, friends call me "Riki".

I would prefer that work written and published under the name "Richard G. Heck, Jr" now be cited as e.g.:

Richard Kimberly Heck, "Cardinality, Counting, and Equinumerosity", Notre Dame Journal of Formal Logic 41 (2000), pp. 187-209 (originally published under the name "Richard G. Heck, Jr")

If you are citing several of my publications, however, then that can be a hassle, as I know from citing myself. In that case, it is fine to cite the papers using my birthname.

Please also note that I now use "they" and cognates as my pronouns.

Feel free to contact me if you are unsure what to do about citations or how properly to use "they"-type pronouns.
