Wooden Boxes

This was the first box I made, for the ashes of our beloved cat Joe. It's made from tigerwood with simple rabbets.

I have since made boxes as well for our cat Snarfy, from tigerwood and purpleheart...

and, most recently, for Josie, who died after we'd had her for just five days, from the same materials. (Sad story. She was a very sick kitten.)

On a happier note, using some of the leftover tigerwood, I made a box for my mother's 75th birthday, this time using box (or finger) joints. This was a much more complicated project, made possible by a box joint jig I built for my table saw.

I built a similar box for my daughter for Christmas 2019 (though it didn't get finished until 2020).

These boxes were all Christmas presents for various friends and relatives.

These two were made for Isobel and her half-sister Meah: Sibling boxes for siblings. Both are made from kiaat that was left over from a bookcase.
